Santorum 2012 is Up, Come and Get Your Santorum

Santorum 2012 is up at http://Santorum-2012.com! This is my latest bottom feeding (sorry for the imagery) project, which combines humor with domain squatting. Check it out and tell all your friends to help spread the santorum. If you don't know what santorum or Santorum is, read the "About" section at http://santorum-2012.com/about.html.

First National Portrait Gallery Pop Quiz

I went to the National Portrait Gallery's monthly trivia thing tonight, their first ever, and it was about women because it's National Women's History Month. My friend and I won me a new coffee table book of 75 portraits of great women, which will go well with my unironic Grandma's Not Shovel Ready: Signs from Tea Party Protests that I swiped at CPAC.

It was fun. They're still developing it so my friend and I made a few suggestions. Sorry this post is boring.

Also here's a picture of me taken my common law grandmother:

Overuse of the Word "Tween"

Journalists love to use that word too much, as they're doing with Rebecca Black. If she's thirteen she's not a tween!

Celebrity Watch: Kris Gruen

Part of my job as an autograph dealer and bottom feeder is to speculate on the potential fame of celebrities.

Back in mid-January when I was visiting friends in New York City, I saw a musician named Kris Gruen perform with a backing band. It wasn't the kind of music I normally like, but it was good! He's very talented and I could have easily imagined it becoming popular. And then I did imagine it and decided to write about it.

His music is sort of like The Decemberists except it was easier for me to ignore the lyrics so that I didn't hate it. I think his second album is much, much better than his first album, which helps explain his lack of fame so far. My two friends and I seemed to be the only people in the audience of this small club who didn't know him personally.

But that's not the only reason I think he'll become famous. If his talent and friendly personality aren't enough, his father is also famous rock photographer Bob Gruen, best known for the iconic photograph of John Lennon wearing a New York City shirt with what's probably New York City in the background.

So watch out for this guy and download his music so you can tell people you liked Kris Gruen before he was even remotely famous (like I will).

DC Art and Science Evening Rendezvous

I went to this event last night, DASER for short, and it was fascinating and cool. Also there was free booze. You should think about going.

The Movie Conviction Is a Lot Sadder to Me Now

I saw Conviction on a flight home from London recently and it was a pretty big turd. It's based on a true story, but stop reading now if you don't want it spoiled.

Hillary Swank's character, Betty Ann Waters, dedicates her life to freeing her wrongfully convicted brother, played by Sam Rockwell, from his life sentence. At the end of the movie, all of her sacrifice and hard work pay off and Kenneth Waters is exonerated and reunited with his estranged daughter, with whom he can finally start connecting. She was born maybe a year or two before his conviction.

According to the Wikipedia article, in real life the brother slips and falls from a 15-foot wall and dies six months after he's finally freed, a fact that the movie doesn't mention. I don't blame them because it's pretty depressing and ruins what's supposed to be an uplifting, one dimensional story.

I Make an Appearance in a Tim Pawlenty Tea Party Ad

I appear in this inspiring ad at 0:27, looking goofy-faced in a suit as Tim Pawlenty snubs me.

Kudos to me for standing next to the one black guy at CPAC 2011 who wanted to meet Tim Pawlenty. The video also shows me taking a picture of them together with the fan's camera before getting snubbed again.

It wasn't my fault though, the other autographers had already pissed him off. He was a lot friendlier to me last time I did this. It's cute that that moment ended up in this patriotic epic music Tea Party ad. Thank you to my friend Ian for finding this.

About to meet Tim Pawlenty!
Gugh I'm being snubbed!

Weird screen capture of a flash in my face.
Yeah sure I'll take a picture for you.

Yeah that's right, I'm the new face of hard-working, angry America so watch out Barack H. O. Bama!
